The Arlington Public Library will support small businesses with a packed schedule of free workshops during National Small Business Week, Monday, May 2 through Thursday, May 5. The Library will offer virtual and in-person business programs.

The week’s events cover a wide variety of topics for business professionals, entrepreneurs, small business owners, and startups. All sessions are free, a Zoom link is provided in the calendar listing for virtual events.

Technology: Wi-Fi, Hotspots, Chromebooks, Laptop Dispenser

The Arlington Public Library offers free public Wi-Fi to all visitors, public computers for children and adults as part of the library’s reference and literacy services, and mobile printing. 100 hotspots are available and can be checked out for 30 days at a time. There are 200 Chromebooks available at the East Library and Recreation Center. Users can check out and take home a device for 30 days with an adult library card in good standing. A laptop dispenser holds 24 Chromebook laptops that can be used within the East Library and Recreation Center and outside in the courtyard.

All you need to access these resources is a library card in good standing (not expired & with less than $50 owed).

This service has a large selection of popular eBooks, comics, eMagazines, and eAudiobooks.

Online Learning

Listen or read on many devices, and there are never any waiting lists.

eBrary

eBrary offers eBooks in a wide range of subject areas. Areas include career development, art, cooking, and traditional school subjects (History, English, Science, etc.). Provides powerful tools to help you find, use, and manage the information you need.

Whether you’re here to get a better job, earn more money, learn English, go to college or finish your high school diploma, Adult Education is here to make it possible.

Makerspace

From sewing and other traditional crafts to cutting-edge laser cutting, the George W. Hawkes Downtown Library’s Makerspace offers something for both experienced and aspiring makers.

Hold a meeting, host an event, or find a free spot to cowork at the George W. Hawkes Downtown Library. From small study rooms to spaces for formal events, we can meet your needs. Rooms are available at varying price points and some spaces are free.
