The Arlington Public Library’s ‘Art is for Everyone’ series continues into 2021 with featured artist, Elisha Van Deventer. In February, Elisha will be teaching the community how to make art with metal through free virtual and in-person classes. Classes will be held at the George W. Hawkes Downtown Library. Social distancing will be enforced, and masks required per the Tarrant County Mask Mandate. Virtual classes will be held via Zoom or available through our social media platforms.

Elisha Van Deventer lives in Keller with her family and has been making art for three years. She has mostly participated in farmer’s markets & vendor fairs, and while she usually works on a smaller scale, she dreams of creating larger pieces for a wider audience. Taking inspiration from nature & music, Elisha primarily works with cold-rolled steel to create metal sculptures with floral designs and makes nearly every piece with nothing but a welding torch, some pliers, and her bare hands. She’s motivated to create art by a curiosity to just “figure it out” and deep enjoyment of the therapeutic relaxation that comes out of the process, which she’d very much like to share with others. You can learn more about Elisha’s work on her Instagram and her Etsy

Make sure to check out Elisha's work in the CREATE room located on the second floor of the George W. Hawkes Downtown Library.

Art classes will be free and all materials will be provided. These classes are intended for ages 14 and up. Registration is required. Classes are first-come, first served. Due to social distancing, we are restricted to limited capacity at this time. One seat per participant, no extra guests in the class.

Every month a different local artist will exhibit their work and offer free classes to the public. Don’t miss the array of disciplines and techniques on display. This class is part of the 'Art is for Everyone' series, a project supported in part by the Texas State Library And Archives Commission: TSLAC.
