Light Up the Library this Independence Day
Celebrate Independence Day this year with events throughout Downtown Arlington, including activities at the new Downtown Library. Join Light Up Arlington on July 3 for family activities, music and fireworks, then return on July 4 for a morning parade. All library locations will be closed on July 4, but the Downtown Library will be open its usual hours on July 3.
Light Up Arlington, an annual festival featuring live music, family activities, food for purchase, and fireworks, returns for another year in Downtown Arlington. Events begin at 6:30 p.m. and continue until 10:30. Don’t miss fireworks, beginning at 9:45! Click here to visit the Light Up Arlington website.
The Downtown Library will be open its usual hours on July 3. Festival-goers are invited to stop in until 9 p.m. Enjoy free crafts and open-ended activities for the family, check out a book, or simply take a break from the heat.
The third floor of the Library will provide great views for people watching, but because the building will close before fireworks begin, will not offer firework viewing.
Free public parking is available throughout downtown Arlington for Light Up Arlington. Beginning at 2 p.m., lane closures and traffic changes will occur as festival set up begins. After 6 p.m., no traffic will be allowed in or out of the event boundary, which is shown in yellow on the above map. Library patrons are advised to choose their parking spots carefully on July 3.
The fun continues after the fireworks! Come back the following morning for the Arlington 4th of July Parade beginning at 9 a.m. Click here for more information, including a map of the parade route. All library locations will be closed on July 4 and will reopen with regular hours July 5.
